Monthly & Special Activities 2010


 
Sewing Circle, 1-3 p.m. Free
(Meets each month on the second and fourth Sunday.)
Bring any period sewing or needlecraft project to share and/or work on in a relaxed setting.  Period sewing instruction and help are available to those wanting to advance their skills in the production of  period garments. Both ladies and  gentlemen are welcome to participate.  The sewing circle will meet second and fourth Sundays (schedule may change due to holidays or special events). This is an informal gathering to share skills, ideas, and new information.
 
Book Club, 7- 9 p.m., Free
(The first Wednesday of each even numbered month)
Read and then discuss period relevant books. Ladies of Liberty by Cokie Roberts and Mr. Jefferson’s Women by Jon Kukla are a couple of examples of book that have been read and discussed. Call for book selections.
 
Summer Camp for Kids, (Date and Fee to Be Announced)
The 1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House hosts a pioneer-themed kid's camp each summer. The camp is designed to transport area children back-in-time to the Illinois Territory and the birth of our state. The week-long camp focuses on hands-on history activities for grades (current) 2nd through 5th. There is a fee charged to participate in this camp (to be announced). Pre-registration is required.
